Review: Conrad Bali
7.9/10
Very good
Best Bali Hotels score
I think the Conrad is the best-value family resort on the Nusa Dua side of Bali. You get a huge lagoon pool, a free kids club and big rooms for mid-range money. It suits big families too, as the Family Suite sleeps up to 6.
It’s more a pool holiday than a beach holiday. The sea out front is shallow and tidal, and it gets seasonal seaweed, like the rest of Nusa Dua.
- Pools
A 278-metre lagoon pool and a separate shallow pool for little kids. This is why you book.
- Value
Rooms from 45 square metres and a free kids club, for mid-range money.
- Kids
Free kids club for ages 4 to 11 and a sand pool.
- Service
The staff are the best thing about the Conrad.
- Rooms
Big and well kept. They were renovated in 2019.
- Location
15–20 minutes from the airport, with local restaurants, spas and shops right outside the gates.
- Food
Breakfast is fine. Dinner is a bit pricey.
- Beach
Shallow and tidal. Seaweed comes with the season, but staff clean the beach early every morning.
Things I loved
- The lagoon pool. It winds 278 metres through the gardens and it’s open 24 hours. There’s a separate shallow pool for little kids too.
- The kids club is free. Komang’s Adventure Club takes ages 4 to 11, 10am to 5pm. A few crafts cost extra, but getting in doesn’t.
- The room sizes. The entry Deluxe is about 45 square metres. Most Bali hotels give you less at this price.
- The Family Suite. It’s new in 2026: about 110 square metres, two queen beds, and it sleeps 6. There’s even a play tent set up for the kids.
- The airport run. It’s about 15–20 minutes on the toll road. After a flight with tired kids, that matters.
- The staff. I think they’re the best thing about the Conrad, and when something goes wrong they move you fast.
What could be better
- The beach. It’s shallow and tidal, and at low tide it turns to mudflats. In some months seaweed washes in, as it does all along Nusa Dua, and staff rake it every morning. Jet skis and banana boats run offshore all day, and you’ll hear them from the main pool.
- The rooms are ageing. The big refurb finished in December 2019. Some rooms smell musty, and ants, broken fittings and lifts out of order come with the age. Not every room is like that, but it’s a lottery.
- The location. The Conrad sits outside the gated Nusa Dua area, on the one road that runs up Tanjung Benoa. You can walk to local restaurants, but you’ll need a car or the hotel shuttle for Nusa Dua’s bigger ones.
- The food beyond breakfast. It’s expensive for Bali, and the portions are small.
- The club lounge is gone. The Conrad Suites lounge closed in May 2026. If you’re paying for a suite, you’re not getting a lounge with it.
If a mate asked, I’d say book it for the pool, and don’t go in expecting a new hotel.
Rooms
Every room here is big, and almost all of them were renovated in 2019. So the choice comes down to the view and who’s coming.
- Deluxe: 45 square metres, with a garden, pool or resort view. It sleeps 4, with two kids in the existing beds.
- Deluxe Ocean Front: 51 square metres, facing the sea. The high floors get the best views.
- Deluxe Lagoon Access: 45 square metres, on the ground floor, with a terrace that steps into the lagoon. Expect mosquitoes and not much privacy.
- Ocean Front Suite: 90 square metres, facing the sea, with a separate living and dining area. You can add a rollaway bed for free.
- Conrad Family Suite: about 110 square metres, one big room with two queen beds. It sleeps 6.
- 2 Bedroom Deluxe Family Room: 90 square metres, two connecting rooms with a king and two twins. It sleeps 6, but costs a lot more.
- Conrad Suite: about 110 square metres, in a separate wing with its own quieter pool. It missed the 2019 renovation. You can add a rollaway bed for free.
Which to book?
As a couple, I’d book a Lagoon Access room or an Ocean Front Suite.
For a family of 4 or more, I’d book the Conrad Family Suite.
Pools and kids
There are four pools, and the lagoon pool is the star. It winds 278 metres through the gardens, it’s open 24 hours, and it’s billed as the longest lagoon pool in Bali.
There’s also a separate shallow pool with a sandy edge, so little kids can splash about while you watch from a lounger. The main pool sits on the beach, with the lagoon running off each side.
The Suites wing has its own pool, which is meant to be adults-only, but it isn’t really enforced.
Komang’s Adventure Club runs Balinese dance, kite making, cookie baking and a daily kids’ yoga session. It’s free for kids ages 4 to 11, and it’s open every day from 10am to 5pm.
Food
Breakfast at Suku is the best meal here, with a kids’ corner and plenty of Indonesian dishes. It gets busy, but I think it’s worth getting up for.
Lunch and dinner are the weak spot. Eight Degrees South does seafood and grills on the beach, and RIN does Japanese and teppanyaki. Both are dear for what you get, and the pool menu is generic.
For a cheap night out, walk out the gates. There are local restaurants and warungs, independent spas and convenience stores right on the main road.
Location
The Conrad is in Tanjung Benoa, a couple of kilometres north of the gated Nusa Dua area. It’s right on the sand, so there’s no road to cross to get to the beach.
Walk out the gates and you’re on a busy local strip, with restaurants, spas and convenience stores a few minutes away. I like that you’re not stuck eating at the hotel every night.
The beach faces east, so it’s sunrises here, not sunsets. It’s also Bali’s water-sports hub: great if the kids want to parasail, less great if you’re after peace and quiet.
Bali Collection is about 5 minutes by car, and the hotel runs a free shuttle. Seminyak and Canggu are a long way, and the drive back in evening traffic is slow.
Overall
For mid-range money near Nusa Dua, nothing else gives you a pool this big and a free kids club. I’d book it for a family with kids aged 4 to 11 who are happy to stay put all week.
Book it if you want a free kids club, a huge pool and a short airport run. Skip it if you want nice beaches and waterslides.
Alternatives nearby
- Grand Hyatt Bali. Similar money, better slides and a far better location inside Nusa Dua. The kids club is only free for 2 hours a day, and the rooms are much more dated.
- The Westin Resort Nusa Dua. Renovated rooms with two double beds, right on the beach inside the gated area. The pools aren’t as good.
- The Laguna. The better lagoon resort, inside the gated area. No kids club, though.
