Review: The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali

8.0/10

Excellent

Best Bali Hotels score

The Westin is the family resort in Nusa Dua that does the basics best. The kids club is free and newly redesigned, the standard rooms come with two double beds, and the beach is at the end of the lawn.

It’s best for families with kids aged about 3 to 10. The catch for now is that the rooms are being refurbished, so where you sleep matters more than usual.

  • Kids

A free kids club, redesigned in 2026, with a toddler area and a teen zone.

  • Location

On the beach inside the gates, with The Laguna next door and Bali Collection a short walk away.

  • Service

Friendly, and properly set up for families.

  • Value

Two double beds and a free kids club for mid-range money.

  • Pools

A big lagoon pool with a slide and a swim-up bar, plus an adults-only pool. Only one slide, and a deep main pool.

  • Rooms

Two doubles in a standard room, but the refurbishment is still running and older rooms show it.

  • Food

A good Japanese and a beachfront seafood spot. Dinner prices are steep.

Things I loved

  • The kids club is free. It’s included for kids staying at the resort, and it was redesigned in October 2026. There’s now a bigger indoor club, an outdoor play area, a toddler area and a teen zone.
  • Two double beds. Even the entry Deluxe room comes with two doubles if you book that version. For a family of four, that’s one room instead of two, and I think it’s the best room deal in Nusa Dua.
  • The beach. You walk off the lawn onto the sand, with no road to cross. The beach out front is clean and calm, with free kayaks and paddle boards.
  • The main pool. It’s a long lagoon pool with a river, a bridge, a waterfall, a swim-up bar and a 12-metre slide off a rock formation. The whole family ends up in the same spot.
  • An adults-only pool. It’s tucked behind the rock formation, with its own waterfall. That’s your hour off while the kids are at the club.
  • The location. It’s on the beach path inside the gates, with The Laguna next door and a free shuttle to Bali Collection.

What could be better

  • The refurbishment. As of October 2026, the hotel is refurbishing rooms and suites, with work running from 9 am to 6 pm daily. It has no end date. If you land next to a block being worked on, it’s loud.
  • The older rooms show their age. The Premium rooms were redone in January 2025, but the rooms still waiting their turn have old furnishings and can smell musty.
  • The main pool is deep. The deep end is over 2 metres, so toddlers belong in the kids pool. And there’s only one slide.
  • Hardly any sea views. Very few rooms look at the water, so don’t pay extra expecting one.
  • The balconies are small. On the upper floors, there’s barely room for a chair.

Rooms

There are about 430 rooms, spread through big blocks around the gardens. Every Deluxe room is 38 square metres with a bath, and you pick a king or two doubles when you book. With two doubles, it takes two adults and two kids.

  • Deluxe Garden View: floors 2 to 5, with a small balcony over the gardens. Fine, but I’d rather be on the ground.
  • Deluxe Pool View: a small balcony over the pool. Handy for keeping an eye on things, but it can be noisy.
  • Deluxe Garden Terrace: ground floor, with a terrace onto the lawn and a short walk to the beach. With kids, it’s my pick.
  • Deluxe Pool Terrace: ground floor, with direct access to the pool. The kids will love it, but these rooms can’t connect.
  • Premium: 48 square metres, with a king or two doubles. Refurbished in January 2025, with a walk-in wardrobe, a coffee machine and a bath and shower. The catch is that it’s the furthest block from the main pool, the beach and breakfast.
  • Westin Suite: 76 square metres, with a king, a living room and a big balcony over the gardens or the pool. It sleeps three.
  • Ocean Suite: 86 square metres near the beach, with a living room, a daybed and a dining table for four. Some have a private pool in a courtyard.
  • Family Suite: 117 square metres, with a king in one bedroom, two doubles in the other, two bathrooms and a living room in between. It sleeps five. There’s a ground-floor version with pool access too.
  • Presidential Suite: 171 square metres on the fourth floor, with two bedrooms.
  • Owner’s Penthouse: added in 2025, over 240 square metres, with two bedrooms, a big balcony and a butler.

For a family of four, I’d book a Deluxe Garden Terrace with two doubles. For five, the Family Suite, or two connecting Premium rooms.

Pools and kids

The main pool is the centre of the resort, about 30 metres back from the sand. It’s lagoon-shaped and fun, but the slide is the only big-ticket thrill. If your kids want a whole day of slides, the Grand Hyatt or Paradisus do that better. I’ve ranked them in Nusa Dua resorts with waterslides.

There’s a separate kids pool for little ones, an adults-only pool, and a Premium pool for guests in the Premium rooms. There’s plenty of shade.

The kids club sits in the middle of the resort, next to the pools. The main club is for ages 4 to 12, with face painting, pizza making, kite making, fishing, movie nights and stargazing, plus a mini zoo of rabbits.

Under-4s get the toddler area and babysitting. Older kids get the teen zone, and the free bikes, kayaks and paddle boards keep them busy.

Food

There’s no all-inclusive here, so you pay as you go. I think that suits families with fussy or small eaters better than Paradisus does.

  • The Japanese restaurant does teppanyaki, robata and sushi. It’s the best dinner in the resort, so book it on day one.
  • The beachfront seafood restaurant sits on the sand. I’d save it for a sunset dinner.
  • The Italian restaurant does wood-fired pizza and has a kids’ menu. It’s the easy family night.

Breakfast is a big buffet with a lot of choice, though it gets repetitive after a few days. On a room-only rate, a package with breakfast usually works out cheaper.

For a cheaper dinner, take the shuttle to Bali Collection.

Location

The Westin is inside the gated Nusa Dua area, right on the beach path. The Laguna is next door, and Bali Collection is about 10 minutes on foot or a free shuttle ride.

The beach is reef-protected and calm, and it’s good for kids at high tide. At low tide it turns into seagrass and shallows, so swim at high tide and pack reef shoes.

Overall

The Westin is the easiest family booking in Nusa Dua at this price. A free kids club, two double beds and the beach on the doorstep cover most of what parents want.

I’d book it now, but I’d email first about the refurbishment and ask for a quiet ground-floor Garden Terrace room.

Book it if you’ve got under-10s and want a free kids club and one room for four, on the beach. Skip it if your kids want a water-park day, or you want everything included.

Alternatives nearby

  • Grand Hyatt Bali. Five pools and a 50-metre slide for similar money. The kids club is only free for 2 hours a day, and the rooms are older.
  • Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua. Bigger refurbished rooms, a 70-metre lagoon pool and swim-out rooms. It takes three to a room, so it’s the pick with one child.
  • Paradisus by Meliá Bali. A water park, two kids clubs and every meal included. It’s for families who eat and drink a lot.
